The 1st XI's chance of forcing a
victory at Grampound Road was scuppered when the match was abandoned at
5.30 pm sfter just 6 overs of the home side's innings. Earlier Truro's
total of 222-8 was built around Neil Stoddard's 82, which included a six
and twelve fours. Tom Sharp hit 7 boudaries in his 38 and Tim Marrion and
Adam Barber chipped in with 26 apiece. The Grampound Road bowling honours
went to Martin Roberts with 5-80 from his 16 overs.
The 2nd XI got off to a slow start with just 60 runs coming off
the first 24 overs, due to tight bowling by Simon Ellison and Liam
Watson. However 161 came off the the second 24 overs
with opener Richard Pascoe scoring 61, Mark Adams 43, Steve Cockett 42 and
Andrew Grant 18 off just 5 balls. In reply the
St Austell innings was held together by Simon Ellison
(67) as Andrew Grant ripped through the middle order claiming 4-24 off 12
overs. He was well supported by young spinner Andrew Libby who took 2-27
from his 12 overs including the wicket of Ellison. Truro however had to
settle for 19 points as the visitor's last pair survived 10 overs.
The 3rd XI took maximum points from this
32 run victory over the visitors. Put into bat Truro totalled 204-6, the
evergreen Chris Chaplin scoring 70, Andrew Van Evelingen 29 and Malcolm
Thomas 21. All the Truro bowlers performed well in dismissing Camborne for

Chris Chaplin 2-49.
Put into bat the 4th XI were in trouble at

bowled out for 121, Howard Nicholson taking 4-31, Martin Phillips 2-31 and
Will Damerell completing a fine all-round performance with 2-31.

The

points as they clung on for a losing draw at St Just. Put into bat St Just
scored 241-6 off their 55 overs with Lee Caddy and Tom Sharp each taking 2
wickets. With regular openers Neil Stoddard and Tim Marrion unavailable
Truro opened with Julian Bose and Adam Barber, but both were back in the
pavilion with just 34 on the board. However a magnificent 3rd wkt
partnership of 152 between Tom Sharp (102) and Ben Price (62) seemed to have
put us on the road to victory. However second spells of 4-21 from Graham
Trenwith and 2-4 from Steve Browne ripped through the Truro middle and lower
order, leaving no's 10 and 11 Carl Murphy and Kris Subramanian to bat out
the last 4.5 overs.
The

Truro's lead extended to 9
points
A
winning draw at Grampound Road coupled with St Just's defeat at Newquay has
extended Truro's lead at the top of the Premier League to 9 points. Put into
bat at Grampound Road Truro amassed 307-5 after being reduced to 55-3 early
on. The fall of the third wicket brought together Ben Price and Ryan Driver
and they shared a magnificent partnership of 185, flaying the home attack to
all parts of the ground. Ben was eventually out for 114 following Ryan's
earlier dismissal for 85. In reply Grampound Road reached 241-7 off their 55
overs, Truro conceding a lot of cheap runs in the quest for wickets.
The
3rd XI had an excellent 6 wkt win at Wendron. Batting first Wendron scored
180-5 off their 48 overs. The foundation of Truro's win was laid by 14 year
old Jack Brighouse who scored 67 n.o, ably supported by Andrew Senior and Andrew
Heayn who both scored 29.

The
1st XI picked up 19 points with a 7 wkt home win over Troon, but St Just
picked up 20 points to cut Truro's lead to 4 points at the top of the
Premier league. Troon were restricted to 219-8 in their 55 overs, with David
Roberts scoring his second century against Truro this season and Kris

2nd XI lost by 7 wkts at Luckett. Put into bat things looked good as Truro
reached 101-1 off just 17 overs, however a disasterous collapse saw 8 wikets
fall for the addition of just 24 runs. Only a last wicket partnership of 44
between Steve Mankee and Dave Taylor gave the final total of 169 some
respectability.
The target was
never likely to be enough on Luckett's small but imaculate ground and they
duly knocked off the runs for the loss of just 3 wkts in 36.3 overs.
The
3rd XI had a convincing 7 wkt home win over Perranarworthal 2nds. Put into

Truro are Vinter Cup
runners up again
For the second
year running Truro lost in the final of the Vinter Cup, this time to St Just. On a cold
and gloomy evening at St Just Truro won the toss and elected to field. After 17 overs it
looked likely that St Just would be restricted to a score in the region of
120, but 20 runs were scored off the 19th over and St Just posted 141-5 off their
20 overs. In reply Truro lost the important wickets of Ben Price and Ryan
Driver early on and were always behind the required run rate and, despite a
good knock of 32 from skipper Tom Sharp, only managed 122-9 from their 20
overs. Congratulations to St. Just for a deserved victory. The final was
watched by a reasonable crowd and was well organised by St Just, however the
venue lacked the atmosphere of the Cup's traditional home of Camborne.
