Perranarworthal win
Vinter Cup Final
Perranarworthal
deservedly won the Vinter Cup when they defeated Truro by 7 wickets in the
final at Camborne. Batting first Truro got off to a very slow start against
an accurate Perran bowling attack and could only total 110-3 in their 20
overs. Tom Sharp, batting with an injury, top scored with 45 not out. In
reply Perran batted steadily and reached 111-3 off 19.2 overs. Truro's quest
to win the cup was not helped by conceding 28 extras against Perran's 3 and
the unavailability of several players through holidays, injury and other
commitments. Congratulations to Perranarworthal who were the better side on
the day and fully deserved to win the trophy.

Premier League fixtures increased
Premier League clubs will play an
additional four league games this season. Clubs voted at the AGM in January
to reduce the 2003 season from 27 to 18 games but the general consensus was
that 18 were too few games and 27 too many. The clubs have subsequently
voted by a 7 to 3 majority to play only four clubs on a third ocassion
during the season. The 22 game season will use up the spare Saturdays (17
May & 30 August) and Bank Holiday Mondays (5 & 26 May). The extra fixtures
were produced on a 'pot luck' basis. They were pre-determined, being the
fixtures that would have been played on the set days if the 27 game format
remained.
Truro's four extra fixtures are:
203-2 with more
than 12 overs to spare.
