REPORT

In one of the most exciting Vinter Cup finishes seen at Hayle for some time Truro 2nds defeated the County One side with a run out off the last ball of the match.

Truro scored 105-6 with the main contributors being Julian Bose (31) and Mark Adams (28). It seemed that Truro were in with a chance of victory when Hayle's reply stood at 47-3 off 11 overs and even more likely when, due to some very tight bowling, their score was 98-6 with two balls remaining. However Wayne Jenkin had other ideas as he hit a six over long-off leaving two required off the last ball to win.

The ball was hit to mid wicket, the batsmen ran one to tie the scores,

but a throw from Julian Bose saw Martin Phillips run out Jacob as he attempted the second and winning run. This gave Truro their seventh and winning wicket. It is interesting to note that, had Hayle not gone for a second run there would have been a replay at Truro.
